The nerve of some people!

As I was parking to go into the organic grocery store in my neighborhood, a black Hummer drove past me.  "They better not be going to an organic grocery store in that car," I thought while I glared at their tail lights.

Sure enough, they parked near the store.

"What a douche bag," I thought as I got out of my car.

I entered the store and saw the organic espresso stand, then looked down at my iced grande raspberry latte from Starbucks.  My virtual tail flew between my legs as I realized my faux-pas.

And then I remembered that while everyone could see the suddenly enormous Starbucks logo on my cup, nobody in the store except for me knew that there was someone inside who had pulled up in a Hummer.

Well at least that Hummer owner is trying to offset one-one millionth of all the damage their life style is doing to the world.

The Hummer is definitely worse off.

LOL. Great post. The same thing happened to me the other weekend, where my friend ran into a cute little organic coffee place and I came with her, only to have the cute little organic staff eye me and dripping sugar exclaimed, "WELCOME TO STARBUCKS! HOW MAY WE SCREW YOU?"

I am just wondering when you are going to start writing about your former ex, new flames, anything really... I really liked reading your blog before but lately I find it's just full of filler and not much is being said. It's almost like you write a few sentences to kill time with no real thought or care anymore....Just an observation, but not meant to be a criticism.

Smooth, TAB. I'd make fun of you for it, but I think you've been through enough. Plus I don't even bother to shop organic.

Humn. Who'd own a Hummer eh?

And I wouldn't mind betting they strutted into the store, dangling the key ring off their fingers.

They probably assumed you were the Hummer driver.

I don't see how driving a Hummer has anything to do with buying organic food. Seem pretty mutually exclusive to me.

i think it sounds like an ironic situation...i would have laughed!

What's w/ the anonymous people? Don't read if you don't like someone's blog.. and the other one - that is the point she was making. Shopping organic and owning a Hummer ARE mutually exclusive. Or should be.

I think those types of people just want to live in excess because they think it's their right to do so. And they probably stopped at the nearest PCC or Whole Foods because it's the closest/easiest or something to that effect. You can't shop at one of those stores and be conscious about the food you're buying and not about the other things you buy in life - like the clearly non-environmental/economical car you drove in.

Also, don't fault yourself for Starbucks. It's everywhere and hard to ignore at times. Plus, tho they are one of the biggest corporate American companies, they give to charity and whatnot, don't they? When in doubt, I always go to Vivace or Victrola anyway. They're way better. :)

Could you explain to me about the family near me who have a Camry & an H3? Seriously, how does that make sense.

Seriously, though...I highly doubt anyone gave a shit about your Starbucks. People are too busy worried about the image and messages they are projecting.
